Make It Extra Smooth and Creamy
How to Make the Caramel Frappe
The video and the written recipe follow the same simple flow: brew, melt, blend, garnish. Hit play and follow along or read the steps below.
Brew a strong cup of coffee or 2 shots of espresso. Let it cool, then chill it in the fridge. Cold coffee blends better with ice and keeps your frappe thick instead of watery.
If you plan ahead, freeze some coffee in ice cube trays and use those for an even stronger coffee flavor.
Slice off 3–4 tablespoons worth from the Half Pound Caramel and place it in a small saucepan with 1–2 tablespoons of milk. Warm over low heat, stirring constantly, until the caramel is smooth and pourable.
Keep the heat low so the caramel stays silky and doesn’t burn. Once melted, set it aside for a minute to cool slightly so it blends nicely with the cold ingredients.
Add the chilled coffee, remaining milk, melted caramel, and ice to your blender. Blend on high until the mixture is thick, creamy, and completely smooth.
Taste and adjust: add more caramel for sweetness, more milk if it’s too thick, or a few more ice cubes if you want it extra frosty.
Drizzle caramel inside a chilled glass, then pour in the blended frappe. Top with a big swirl of whipped cream and another drizzle of caramel from your Half Pound block.
For a salted caramel twist, add a very small pinch of flaky sea salt on top right before serving.
Play With Flavors
- No-coffee version: Skip the coffee and use just milk, caramel, and ice for a caramel milkshake-style drink.
- Extra caramel swirl: Layer frappe, caramel drizzle, and whipped cream in stripes inside the glass.
- Dairy-free: Use oat or almond milk and a dairy-free whipped topping.
Why the Half Pound Caramel Makes It Better
Most caramel frappes depend on thin flavored syrups. This one uses real caramel you can taste. Our Half Pound Caramel gives the drink a thick, buttery caramel base instead of just sweetness.

Can I make this caramel frappe without coffee?
Yes. Replace the coffee with cold milk and follow the same steps. You will get a caramel shake-style drink that still uses the Half Pound Caramel for flavor.
Do I have to melt the Half Pound Caramel first?
Melting it with a splash of milk makes it easier to blend and helps it spread evenly through the drink, so the caramel flavor shows up in every sip.
What kind of milk works best?
Whole milk makes the frappe extra creamy, but 2% or oat milk also work really well. Use what you like, just make sure it’s cold before you blend.
How sweet is this caramel frappe?
The sweetness comes mainly from the Half Pound Caramel. Start with 3 tablespoons, taste, and add more caramel if you like it sweeter. You don’t need extra sugar.
